Meeting Place

The CFN Summer School will be held at the Evangelische Akademie in Bad Herrenalb.
The meeting venue offers single rooms (***). All meals are served buffet style.

The Evangelische Akademie provides free internet access via a PC and a WLAN access point in the lobby.

In Bad Herrenalb you can enjoy the Siebentäler Therme, a spa which was highly recommended by participants of previous CFN Summer Schools.

By Train

Take a train to Karlsruhe Main Station.

Leave Karlsruhe Main Station by the main exit and walk towards the streetcar stops. Line "S1" (not "1"!) to Bad Herrenalb departs form platform D. Exit at terminus "Bad Herrenalb Bahnhof".

On weekdays trains depart twice per hour - 17 and 57 past the hour - until 19:17 hr, then every hour.
On weekends they depart every hour in the early morning, and twice per hour during the day. The tram takes about 35 min to Bad Herrenalb.
Tickets are € 3.50 one-way (4 zones) and should be purchased at automatic vendors at the platform, inside the train, or from the driver. Please note that the automatic vendors will only accept coins or pre-loaded German cash cards.

It´s a ten-minute walk from the station to the Evangelische Akademie:
Leave the station through the main entrance and follow "Bahnhofstraße" towards the main road ("Ettlinger Straße"). Cross "Ettlinger Straße" and turn left. Follow "Bleichweg" for about 50 meters, then turn right into "Flachsteinweg". You find the Evangelische Akademie at the end of the road. Ring at the back entrance. To get to the main entrance turn right into "Akademieweg" (pretty steep!) and then left into "Dobler Straße".

By Car

From the south, west or north: Take motorway A5 towards Karlsruhe. Take exit 47 "Ettlingen / Bad Herrenalb" and follow the signs through Ettlingen and the Alb valley to Bad Herrenalb (route "L564", "Ettlinger Straße). In Bad Herrenalb the main road changes its name to "Kurpromenade". Follow this road until you arrive at a round-about near the town hall. Turn left into "Dobler Straße" (L340), direction Dobel/Pforzheim. After about 500 meters, the Akademie is on your left.

From the east: Take motorway A8 from Stuttgart region towards Karlsruhe. Take exit 42 "Karlsbad". Turn south towards "Ettlingen". Having passed the village of Waldbronn turn left towards Bad Herrenalb (route "L564", "Ettlinger Straße"). In Bad Herrenalb the main road changes its name to "Kurpromenade". Follow this road until you arrive a round-about near the town hall. Turn left into "Dobler Straße" (L340), direction Dobel/Pforzheim. After about 500 meters, the Akademie is on your left.

 

By Plane

Via Frankfurt Airport: Proceed as described under "By car - From the south, west or north" or "By Train."  Some trains leave directly from Frankfurt Airport to Karlsruhe. To find a train connection, please refer to the train schedule of German Rail and enter "Frankfurt Main Flughafen" (airport) or "Frankfurt Main Hbf" (main station) as your station of departure and "Bad Herrenalb Bahnhof" as your destination.

Via Stuttgart Airport: Proceed as described under "By Car - From the east" or "By Train." There is a shuttle bus from the airport to the main station in downtown Stuttgart. To find a train connection, please refer to the train schedule of German Rail and enter "Stuttgart Flughafen" (airport) or "Stuttgart Hbf" (main station) as your station of departure, and "Bad Herrenalb Bahnhof" as your destination.
